As you might guess: I spent one wonderful week in the Netherlands.
Now I have a lot of work to do before I can start blogging again.
I apologize to all of you for not being able to comment your blogs: I read them, but evidently I muddled something contra Google's wish for data - thus I am kept away from commenting.
I'll try to fix that.
Till then: I wish you a Happy Easter time. The little village here is already nicely adorned:
In the Netherlands - refreshing the parts that other countries can't reach?
ReplyDeleteI might understand, dear Tasker, or I might not
Delete- so I join Mr. Churchill when he called a whole country and not only a sentence "a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma" :-)
Happy Easter to you. I'm glad you had a good timr.
ReplyDeleteThank you Emma, it was a wonderful week.
DeleteWhat was the week in the Netherlands about - working or just being a relaxed, fascinated tourist? I would love to go back..it was such a pleasure, years ago.
ReplyDeleteDo you do something special before Easter eg baking?
Dear Helen, The Flying Dutchman had his birthday, and we were in a concert and in some museums - so: a lot to see and do in one week.
DeleteThe triplets are doing a lot of Easter-handicraft in kindergarten - and though I love to do that too this year I am a bit late for it. I enjoy what they create.
And a Happy Easter to you, Britta.
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear Joanne! (I still have to answer as "anonymous" - on my own blog!)
DeleteHappy Easter Britta. Beautiful photos from the village, but also in Germany from what I remember they decorated very nicely on Easter and did the custom of hidden chocolate eggs. It was very nice!! Have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Katerina! Here in Bavaria they have a long tradition of women decorating especially the wells for Easter. Water was essential and precious for life.
DeleteHappy Easter, dear Britta! Your pic of the Netherlands is like one plucked from a painting and there is no question where you've been and with whom! It reminds me, I have only spent a single weekend in the NL and it's a silly tale for ye olde blog one day :)
ReplyDeleteDear Pip, thank you! I will soon answer to your last post and adore the beautiful photo you posted.
DeleteYes, the Netherlands tried to adorn itself with nature in form of old paintings - but we visited also the very modern Museum (my favourite!) Voorlinden - which is a gem in way of architecture, landscape gardening (by famous Piet Oudolf) and very inspiring modern exhibitions - I am always stunned. (And that is not often the case with very modern sculpture e.g.)
I am, as you might guess, very interested and curious about your tale about "A Short Version of One Thousand and One Nights in the Netherlands :-)
