I'm a bit in a state (to be honest: I'm a nervous wreck -- I have made no copies...): I cannot open my blog "Happiness of the Day" - and I need to!
I remember that other bloggers (Tom, Geo.) had that problem too, and it was only temporary - what did you do to get your other blogs back??
I really, really hope you can give me a clue!
Thanks,
Britta
Dear Brigitta, I am at a loss! The problem I had retrieving my blogs was caused by the new Google format which hid my 2 other blog titles under "Trainride of The Enigmas" in an odd corner of the screen. It was solved by helpful guesses from commenters --http://trainrideoftheenigmas.blogspot.com/2016/11/blogger-enigma.html-- last month. However, I can see your problem is more complex. I have just tried to access "Happiness of the Day" via 3 different browsers, as well as directly from my blog sidebar and from the blogroll at your site here. All attempts resulted in a blank screen. This is a different sort of problem. I do recall, some months ago, the site would not accept my comment on a poem by Basho, but I assumed you were changing some settings at the time. Could there be some problem that pre-existed the recent changes in Google Blogger? I will ask around and report whatever I find out --to this site. There are online forums supported by Google and they are sometimes helpful. Perhaps better minds than mine can fix this.
ReplyDeleteHi again, so far as I can tell, your poem blog was formatted in blogger "dynamic template" and some other similarly formatted sites are showing blank screens. This is indeed disconcerting. I sure hope this can be corrected.
DeleteDear Geo., thank you for all your help and sympathy! I am really at a loss (and of course mad at myself) - and will try your suggestion of forum help (though I often do not understand their technical jargon). One hope I have: there is an ex-student who solved more than one computer problem for me (I cannot reach him at the moment - and of course I need it now...) - his real (!) name is Merlin, and I hope he can perform magic...
DeleteThe sad thing is, that I cannot enter any (!) my other blogs (vanished too, though they had another template than Happiness) - no way - and this one is the only one I can get at. I suspect is has something to do with Google wanting even more data than normally. Well - as soon as I see light I will let you know. And thank you so, so much! Britta x
You are most welcome, Brigitta. I tried, but it's 3 o'clock in the morning here and I'm very sleepy. Hopefully you will be successful in accessing your blog --as will I, because I truly appreciate your translations. If your ex-student is young enough, he will be far more likely to solve the problem than I. All my best wishes.
DeleteOh thank you, Geo., and I hope you sleep well! So kind of you to help - and now it is back again, the blog - "Much Ado About Nothing" Google might call that - but I was really, really disturbed. And will learn my lesson: and take back-ups.
DeleteThank you!
As the old advice goes: Try turning it off and turning it back on again... Actually, just go to Google Blogs via your search engine and sign in on the public page rather than a bookmark. When (if) your blog appears, bookmark that version. Shut it down, then go to the new bookmark. If it still works, scrap the old bookmark and use the new one. Blogger never throws anything away, so I bet all your stuff will still be there, waiting for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tom, my son just informed me that all of a sudden everything is there again. Thanks for your help: I copied that for the case of need - and I'll copy my translations now... (motto: getting wiser, but not older :-) !!)
DeleteAt least you have a happy ending.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope that it is an end of Googles funny ways - hope to be able to say "Once upon a time...", Emma.
