Lady-in-Waiting

Dear You,
oh I have to post the email I got today! As you hopefully have noticed, I gave you the address where you can order the wonderful CD "Wild Goosechase Expedition" of Scottiswoode & His Enemies from which I nicked the video "Beautiful Monday" in the last but one post. If you have forgotten were you put it: you can find the CD here:

  5. And not only do you deserve Customer of the Year, but also, to borrow from Shelley's To a Skylark, Blithe Spirit of the year-and perhaps every year. Hail to thee!

  6. Dear Sue,
BLUSH... in modesty (very unusual for me...IF I were not able to see a bath tube full of deep water scented with the salts of irony - I might slip on the tiles :-)

  7. This is such a delightful piece of humour - they enjoyed creating it and you in turn enjoyed receiving it. More of this would make the world a better place.

  8. Dear Rosemary, I agree with you: humour and care - here combined with witty fun - makes life easier (as good manners do). A question of style. (By the way: I was so enchanted - and answered - and they answered back. Might start something like that book of Helene Hanff, '84.Charing Cross' :-)

  9. Dear Britta,

Oh, that has got to be one of the best customer relations messages ever! With that kind of attitude, I'll bet they get a lot of repeat business. Who wouldn't enjoy working with a company like that?

    Happy weekend!

    3. No irony intended--I was just thinking how your posts always brighten my day, whether or not I manage to get over here to comment! Now, on the irony side, you may be amused to know that, early on in my explorations of "new music," I ordered a CD from CDBaby, and they were every bit as charming. The CD? "Anti-Social Music Is the Future of Everything." (As Francis Urquhart (House of Cards) was wont to say, "You might well think that, I couldn't possibly comment.")

    4. Dear Sue,
thank you - I had no criticism intended (that's why I hopefully placed a smiley - something I don't do very often) - hahaha: it was my well-known modesty breaking through ! :-)),
Your ordered music title "Anti-Social Music is the Future of Everything" is so interesting, that CDBaby should have even commented on the content, not on the customer - or did they send a different text?
Thank you for mentioning FU - can you imagine that he slipped through without me ever noticing novels nor films? (I only have the DVDs "Yes, Minister" and "Yes, Prime Minister" with Nigel Hawthorne, whom I adore, and the Yes-book - but that is another cup of tea, I think) So thank you for the tip!

    1. Dear Pondside,
I found out they are from Portland. The inhabitants of that city seem to be a special kind - when son was there as a pupil-journalist, he asked his guest-family: "You don't take an umbrella with you? What do you do when it rains?" Stoic answer:
"We just walk and get wet." Sweet!

  12. What a lovely and humorous post, Britta! I love this! The note made me smile.
And the top photo - it is beautiful and it took me a while to figure out what it was.
The hand with the pretty handkerchief but no face..... I wonder what the lady looks like.

  13. Never saw an e-mail like this!
Really funny. From the beginning I don't know if its a joke or something like that. Now I realise that its true. Funny, good marketing. I can imagine the scene, it makes me laugh.

    1. Dear Babi,
I also have never received such an e-mail before. Sue wrote that she got a sweet message of them too. It shows me: a bit of originaity is appreciated by everyone. Bisous, Britta
