Britta's Letters from her life divided between city-life in German's capital Berlin and life in a Bavarian village

Invitation to my blog "Britta's Happiness of the Day"

This time I want to invite you to my "favourite child" - my blog "Britta's Happiness of the Day", https://burstingwithhappiness.blogspot.com.

I combine a photo that I have taken with a poem - this time it is "Queen Anne's Lace" (Daucus carota), a wildflower that always fascinates me with its little dark spot in the middle of it, accompanied by the breathtaking poem by William Carlos Williams, "Queen Anne's Lace"

I translated it into German (sometimes I am so crazy to translate a German poem into English) - and I always write a comment - this time I indulged in plunging into the deep waters of biology, symbols and poetry.

I am interested if you like it - and recommend to see it in the version as "flipchart" - a patchwork rug of photos (if you turn the photo, you see the poem).

  1. Interesting blog. Have looked before from the link on your profile. I'd get mixed up maintaining more than one blog.

  2. Dear Tasker, I had to solve a problem with website trackers - now I can answer to your comment.
Yes: more than one blog is difficult - but these two are so different - and I don't expect comments on the poems, though of course I enjoy them very much - there I can muddle along with difficult translations (make the grey cells work), enjoy my photos in a context - and rediscover and choose poems - a joy for me.

  3. Good idea. Did you know that Queen Ann's Lace are wild carrots?

    1. Dear Mimmylynn, thank you, and yes, I knew that - and in my eyes that makes the special charm of the poem - it shows the female, but also the male aspect.
People who eat the wild carrot - which one can do - must be attentive: it is easily mistaken with Hemlock, and that is utterly poisonous, as Sokrates was forced to drink.

  4. I am already a fan of your companion blog, Britta! I think you having two such diverse blogs may have been the nudge which encouraged my own sidelines. It's enormous fun having different playgrounds to chose between when a creative urge grips :)

    1. I was so glad to see your comment on the Happiness-blog, dear Pip!
Long time ago there was a very small "community" of interpreters from blogland, then I wrote long time nothing. Nowadays I just enjoy the finding of poems that match with a special photo, and am very content and self-engrossed in that process - using the swing on that playground. :-)
