Britta's Letters from her life divided between city-life in German's capital Berlin and life in a Bavarian village

A Sign of Life

Dear You,

just a sign of life: this is the view from my new domicile in Bavaria - isn't it ravishing?

At the moment I am back in Berlin: I got the offer for my first Biontec shot two days ago, and thought that so important that I entered the ICE and will stay here for a few day. Hustle and bustle - but also

                                                            Joie de vivre!

  1. Green views, sunny days, coffee on the balcony and Covid vaccines :) What more could a person want?

  2. Would we all fit on your Bavarian balcony for drinks and cakes, or do we have to come a few at a time?

    1. Dear Tasker, I saw with glee that I now have 64 followers, and - although the balcony is quite large - they would not all fit in. So I will invite the "larks", and then the afternoon people, and then the "owls".
The only hurdle might be the state of Bavaria: at the moment they allow you - because of Covid 19 - to invite only one person a day.
So you all have to come one after the other, which would be a pleasure!

  6. The vista you see from your home in Bavaria is spectacular. You must enjoy it tremendously. I'm glad you are being vaccinated. When enough people are inoculated maybe we can start to live normally again.

    1. Yes Emma, I sit there in the evening too and look at the sky . beautiful!
I am glad too about the vaccination (the next will follow in a month - then one has to wait another two weeks and then one is safe, they say. )

  7. Oh yes, getting the vaccine is very important. I would travel back for such a reason, too. Your apartment in Bavaria is going to be so enjoyable!

    1. Dear Holly, yes, I am glad that I was offered the vaccination - in Germany you can get it only at the primary residence, but that was ok. They even paid you a taxi to get to the vaccination centre - which was surprisingly organised (after the big vaccination chaos in Germany before).

  8. I would be very happy to be able to sit on your balcony in Bavaria right now. I am pleased that you have now been called to receive your first Pfizer shot, it offers us all so much extra reassurance.

    1. Thank you, Rosemary: as I told Tasker I will be happy to have guests!

And yes: the more people get the shot the better (you might have followed the news about many difficulties to get started in Germany - now my sister told me that she was vaccinated by her family doctor - so we all hope that from now on it will become quicker to get it for everybody!

  10. Your balcony view in Bavaria is beautiful. Getting the Pfizer vaccine is good news. I got it too and was told the first shot provides 85% protection and 92% after the second. All steps toward more normalcy of which we all crave. Good to hear from you Britta!

  12. Bavaria sounds so romantic! What a lovely view you have, and you've made proof of the concept of nipping back to Berlin when you want. Too easy!

  13. Dear Pipistrello, I share your opinion about Bavaria - they are headstrong, self-assured and traditional. I know Bavaria and Bavarians quite well - now my second domicile is in the region of Franken, a part of Bavaria, but different.
I lived in Nürnberg during my working life for half a year to create a concept for "counselling groups", so they are not unknown to me .
Berlin- Nürnberg with the ICE sprinter is easy-peasy (3 hours 15 minutes - but THEN I have to wait almost an hour, for a charming little train, then it goes to my destination, hahaha.

  14. How beautiful Britta .... relaxing and inspiring. You must have seen your triplets by now .... how wonderful that must have been for you. We have had both of our injections now ... good to hear that you are getting yours. Sit back and enjoy those wonderful views.

  15. Dear Jackie, thank you! Good that you had both injections, I get the next in the middle of May.
Now I am sitting in a train back - and we just were just told that the train will be two (!!) hours late (I'm sitting inside this ICE). All trains were led a different route.
Well, seems that I still have to learn a lesson of Patience in my life...
