Britta's Letters from her life divided between city-life in German's capital Berlin and life in a Bavarian village

The Beatles - Help!

I am happy to welcome my 60th follower: TheMerryNeedle!

And I do have a question:
is there an easy way to find out whether a follower writes a blog too, or is (hopefully) just enjoying to read mine? I cannot find out how to do that in the new version of Blogger.
Joanne Noragon helped me to insert a follower's blog - as for instance follower number 59, Tasker Dunham - into my blogroll here on the right. Thank you again, Joanne!
So I hope: We can work it Out!

I wish you a beautiful Sunday!

  1. You click on the name of the follower or their name on their comment and you get their profile which shows if they write any of their own or just follow others.

    1. Thank you, Tom! With Tasker I did it - but I had no comment from TheHappyNeedle. But normally that does work out, in a way.

  2. Oh the memories the Beatles bring - always great!

Umm, I thought it worked as Tom above says however when I try I can only see the followers' names and lists of blogs they follow! I checked on my own too and it seems the same - it wasn't like that before, you actually could see details of the Follower with a link where you could go to their blog if they had one, but not now. Blogger must have made changes, again!!!!!!!!

BUT all is not lost - just type The Merry Needle blog into Google - it came up top of the list and you can access it there. Her name is Holly.

    1. Thank you Mary, the Beatles always bring me in a good mood - though I was (am!) a Rolling Stones follower - they push up my adrenaline :-)

You name the problem: when I do it Tom's way, I get only the blogs they follow. Trying Google is what Rosemary suggests too - seems to me the proper way, but I had hoped that someone could tell me the magic word here for the old Blogger gadget...
Thank you for giving me a name to avoid "Dear Merry Needle" :-)
Now I will write "Holly" - if she comments.

  3. The easiest way to see if a follower has a blog is to hope they leave you a comment and then click on their name and see what is revealed. If I hover and open up my followers it does not show me whether they have their own blog or not, it shows me who else they follow only.

    1. Thank you, Rachel - I will be on the look-out for comments and instantly, when they do comment, follow your advice.
It was easier before - there you could tip on the name and see whether they have a blog or not.

  4. I use the Tom method. I checked the above three names and found which blogs they write. All but Tom who chooses to keep his information private. And who doesn't love the Beatles? Who doesn't need somebody?

    1. Thank you, Emma - so you use the way to use the comment.
Am curious: of course I will try and see if Tom keeps his informations private. Can you imagine that when I stopped on a narrow boat tour in Bath, I actually met him and H.I.? I am still really glad about that!
And yes: you made me smile with your quote-question from the Beatles - "Who doesn't need somebody?" - I answer with a song my parents listened to: "Everybody needs somebody sometimes" - (Dean Martin, I think)

  5. Dear Britta - unless they leave you a comment then it is very difficult to find out who they are. However, sometimes if you put their title into and add blog then they sometimes turn up. I have just done that and you will find merry needle at:-

    1. Thank you, dear Rosemary, yes, I will do it that way: easier with comment, otherwise a chase on Google.
And then I have to remember how to add it to the blogroll - I found it out, but forget things I only do once in a blue moon.
But then: it's nice to have to use one's Little Grey Cells, as Mr. Poirot would say. (There exists a book with quotes of him - with that title - I just found that out using Google!)

  6. I don't know how you backtrack from followers to their blog, if any. I can tell you, The Merry Needle is:

    2. Too kind! Little daubs are out of my league, haha, so the marvels of the internet get to suffice for satisfying my mucking about in the creative world.

    3. Now that's what I call a stunning lesson in understatement!
Or as Winston S. Churchill put it: "“A modest little person, with much to be modest about.” You have so beautiful and learned blogs!

  9. Thank you Britta. You are indeed witty and pretty. I can never quite remember how to add blogs I follow to my blogroll, it is not an easy gadget to use, so there are a lot I follow who aren't in the list. I tend more to use the dashboard Reading List to read them. However, I've managed to crack it this morning and you're now in mine.

    1. Thank you, Tasker - also for convincing me to keep the title of my blog :-)
At the moment I am a bit erratic with comments, because I have a new project, so sometimes it is a question of spare time (especially as some bloggers write every day, though I savour) that - and not quite as quick in a foreign language (though I enjoy it). I read the blogs, am inspired and happy, and try my best.
