Berlinale and the Protection of Mr. Netanjahu
While I was painting my Amy-Winehouse-eyeline this morning thoroughly, the radio announced: the Israeli Prime Minister Netanjahu visits Mrs. Merkel today. For his protection they ordered the Highest Security Level around the Waldorf Astoria - which is OK (2012 there were up to 2.400 policemebn protecting him).
But I (and not only I) have a problem: the Zoo Palast, a big cinema and very important for the Berlinale, is on the other side of the Waldorf Astoria.
Meaning: the movie tonight is transferred to another cinema.
But there is no information for todays movie "A Quiet Passion" which I have a ticket for - in the Zoo Palast, at 12:30 a.m.
Dear reader - cross your fingers for me, please - that I manage to get in - in time - and: at all....

What are they meeting about? Nothing on news about this in Austria. Reminds of the story of the 3 lparrots
ReplyDeleteI'll put it on my blog sometime. Hope you get to the film without hindrance.
I'm looking forward to The 3 Parrots, Gwil!
DeleteThey meet to talk about Israel & Palestine. It was planned for some months ago in summer, but something interfered.
Oh, no. Leave early. You may curse Netanjahu under your breath. No true gentleman would cause the waste of an Amy Winehouse eyeline!
ReplyDeleteOh Joanne, good advice! I started early - so that I had time in case they changed the place to Friedrichstadtpalast.
DeleteOh Britta ...... is this the one that you queued up for ? I hope you get in OK. How dare they take priority over my blogging friend Britta ?!!! XXXX
ReplyDeleteNo, Jackie, I queued for The Culinary Cinema - I will tell you of that later. (2 Michelin stars!)
DeleteI do hope you were able to conveniently attend. I understand the need to protect visiting dignitaries. It just seems to me that with all the planning they could take us "little people" into account and plan accordingly.
ReplyDeleteThank you Emma! Of course they have to protect him, in his case very, very much - but why didn't he choose the Adlon hotel? Much nearer to Mrs. Merkel - when he meets her today, they protect the government quarter too.
DeleteI am so sorry for you Britta, I did not know that he went to Mrs M.,It was nothing about it in the news here.He should stay at home and bother his neighbors in Jerusalem with all those top security arrangments.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Yael! We were all surprised here too. Good that I had the radio on!
DeleteFingers crossed and hope you got to see your film Britta - that is just too bad that Mr. N's security should interfere in your 'Joy of Living'
ReplyDeleteThank you - it helped, Rosemary! It is not easy to interfere with my joie de vivre :-)
DeleteGood luck, Brigitta!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Geo.!
DeleteDo let us know - it is surely past the event now.....
ReplyDeleteYes Pondside, I instantly will: look at my new post - I only have to transfer my photos.
