Berlinale and the Protection of Mr. Netanjahu

©Brigitta Huegel

While I was painting my Amy-Winehouse-eyeline this morning thoroughly, the radio announced: the Israeli Prime Minister Netanjahu visits Mrs. Merkel today. For his protection they ordered the Highest Security Level around the Waldorf Astoria - which is OK (2012 there were up to 2.400 policemebn protecting him).
But I (and not only I) have a problem: the Zoo Palast, a big cinema and very important for the Berlinale, is on the other side of the Waldorf Astoria.
Meaning: the movie tonight is transferred to another cinema.
But there is no information for todays movie "A Quiet Passion" which I have a ticket for - in the Zoo Palast, at 12:30 a.m.
Dear reader - cross your fingers for me, please - that I manage to get in - in time - and: at all....

  1. What are they meeting about? Nothing on news about this in Austria. Reminds of the story of the 3 lparrots

I'll put it on my blog sometime. Hope you get to the film without hindrance.

    1. I'm looking forward to The 3 Parrots, Gwil!
They meet to talk about Israel & Palestine. It was planned for some months ago in summer, but something interfered.

  2. Oh, no. Leave early. You may curse Netanjahu under your breath. No true gentleman would cause the waste of an Amy Winehouse eyeline!

    1. Oh Joanne, good advice! I started early - so that I had time in case they changed the place to Friedrichstadtpalast.

  4. I do hope you were able to conveniently attend. I understand the need to protect visiting dignitaries. It just seems to me that with all the planning they could take us "little people" into account and plan accordingly.

    1. Thank you Emma! Of course they have to protect him, in his case very, very much - but why didn't he choose the Adlon hotel? Much nearer to Mrs. Merkel - when he meets her today, they protect the government quarter too.

  6. Fingers crossed and hope you got to see your film Britta - that is just too bad that Mr. N's security should interfere in your 'Joy of Living'
