Britta's Letters from her life divided between city-life in German's capital Berlin and life in a Bavarian village

Boring for England?

No, I don't want to bore you.
So these photos will be the last ones from my visit to London I'll show you, promised.
They are more traditional, because Rachel complained that the others "could be everywhere"-
These ones NOT

Ha, you might think: now I've got you! These could be from Paris!
Maybe they could - but they are from Battersea Park
Glorious!

And can you believe that the father of my friend Trish accompanied Mr.Churchill to the Wannsee-Konferenz?
And that I saw a letter to her father, written by him:

PS: "And what do you think of Britta's Dream Aga, Sweetie?"

"Absolutely Fabulous!"

  2. They look a bit chocolate boxy but yes, they are definitely London this time!

    1. I have gruesomes too, Rachel - but you know: I love my rose-tinted camera-lense :-)

  3. For years I longed for an Aga. No longer.

    1. Because of the pink, Shawn - or generally spoken? I heard that they are very complicated to handle - but they look so cozy! (I would always choose a soft off-white, by the way).

  4. Now it looks quite reminiscent of my father's London photos of 1953. The closest I have been. He was there for HRH's coronation, and he watched and took photos of the procession to Westminster from his hotel window.

    1. Oh Joanne, I would like to see those photographs!!! Will you post them for us? (though in the internet people steal photos - a very nice peacock-photo of mine landed somewhere else ("couldn't find the author" - hahaha: I always put the copyright sign + name inside).

  5. Dear Britta - The Aga is definitely pretty in pink, and I was surprised when I saw the MI6 building on the first photo, it has been completely swamped by new buildings around it.
Your friends Churchillian letter will be worth quite a lot of money.

    1. Dear Rosemary, yes - the surrounding on photo 1 is peculiar. But I love in London that they dare to build sometimes quite extravagant buildings (I have been on the Shard) - in Berlin they are very, very timid, mostly.
Trish's father was a highly interesting man - he wrote several books, and one was made into a film by Hitchcock.

  6. I wanted to go to the House of Commons but I lived "up north" so I went to the Granada TV Studios where they had, maybe still have, a 1:1 exact replica of the debating chamber where visitors could have a mock debate and jokingly abuse each other. As to the weather, we were allowed to stand in front of the blue screen and point to no-clouds and no-raindrops as we were filmed giving our forecasts. Up North is OK too.

    1. The Granada film studios must have been interesting too, Gwil. I saw this time a discussion (on a sofa near the Thames) by itv.
As to prices for exhibitions etc: I often think our German ones are more expensive (though the Rolling Stone-exhibition in the Saatchi was costly, but at least they showed a lot).

  9. Wonderful photos! Brigitta, I am refreshed also by seeing clouds over the compositions --we have had very little weather here for 5 months.

    1. Thank you, Geo! The clouds were in the beginning - then the weather changed to brightest sunshine (the fountains were photographed at 6 pm). 5 months sunshine is a bit much - I love variety, and plants need water. (And the strange thing is: when the sun shines I often have the feeling that I HAVE to do amusing things - but everyday life has to go on, and that is often easier in moderate temperature).

    1. Dear Helsie, I'm glad to welcome you here! Munich, Salzburg, Vienna will be a treat - because Son&DiL live in Bavaria, I am often in Munich; and we met two weeks ago for a long week-end in beautiful Vienna. A city with so much charm!
