Britta's Letters from (and sometimes about) Berlin

Today is my birthday

©Brigitta Huegel

Another one!
The little pendant I found a year ago - it is made of enamel, and is even older than I :-)
Of course I don't wear it - I'm not into astronomy astrology (proof: I knew only very few birthsigns of friend - and when I know them I often am not sure what they mean. Strange was only for a long period of my life the clustering of Virgos).
You might remember my last birthday post, where I told you of that friend of mine who pays lots of money for learning astrology, in Suisse - and still is adamant about me being a Gemini.
Which I am not, but if it makes her happy...
Being a Capricorn - that much I learned - means
a) you better not tell
b) you are ambitious, and climb up to the summit
c) you are stubborn
d) and very resilient
e) and more. (Should take a course in Suisse).
Best:
They say a Capricorn grows younger while ageing. Young they are very eager to do the right things, thinking brain is everything - growing older they relax and start to enjoy life with all senses. . .
As I do.

I thank you all for following, and wish you a Happy New Year!
Britta xxx

PS: Please allowe me one birthday wish: of course Rachel was right when she asked 'Why not integrate "Rise and Shine!" into this blog?" (Answer: c)
Now I will. It's not that I don't have nough topics to write about - I have - but I found out that I mumbled all the time - happily only in my head -- in plain (though admittedly: broken) English!
I talked all the time to you!
Stop! I also have a real life! And work to do!
So : easier for you to have this one blog (with from now on a few shorter posts, and some long ones), and easier for me. Thank you!

  1. Me too, Britta! Happy birthday to us. And we nearly have the same name, and somewhat the same profession, and we both realise that Rachel is always right.

  2. Many happy returns of the day Britta ....... hope you have fun !!
It's probably a good idea just to have the one blog ...... I find it hard enough to have one let alone another one !!!!!!!
    Have a great day. XXXX

    1. Dear Jackie, thank you! Yes, fun we had a lot today - and we still will have (so much fun that husband sneaked away to take a little nap - remember: how exhausting for him that I'm growing younger... - and I sneaked to my computer to have a look here).

  3. Wishing you a Very Happy Birthday Britta and of course of all the signs Capricorn is the tops and best of all of them!
I am qualified in saying that as I am one myself :)

    1. Dear Heron, thank you! My innate modesty (why is the world roaring with laughter?) forbade me to mention the point. I wish you a Happy Birthday too!

    2. Britta, I gave up being modest, once I had realised that I was perfect :)

  4. Happy Birthday Britta! And may I say happy birthday to Mise here too as I do not see a birthday post on her blog, at least yet? Happy Birthday Mise! Well well, two Capricorns. We must be patient. And I know a third very well. P. I do not call him stubborn, I call him immovable. One learns to accommodate it. And thank you for your kind words about what I will not say, I wouldn't want it to go to my head. Have a lovely day both of you.x

    1. Dear Rachel, thank you! Had to look up the word "accomodate", which was intriguently NEW to me :-) - hope I will learn that over the next 10 years...
Immovable I am not - as soon as I (!) see that there is a genuine reason for something, I move ---.

  6. Best wishes to you, Britta! It must be nice to have a birthday just as the new year is beginning. It seems so tidy. No need to have two sets of resolutions, for instance, or to begin a new diary in the middle of the year. A fresh start for everything. Have fun celebrating today!

    1. Thank you, Shawn! You are right: a "clean slate" before me - or so it seems - and a crisp new year to come.

  7. Happy birthday, Brigitta! I had one a couple weeks ago and got flashy Star Trek socks and hearing-aids. I guess I'm at an awkward age.

    1. Happy birthday to you, Geo. - and sorry I missed that! xxx (One resolution for the New Year is: don't travel that much as this year - it made me attentive and unattentive in one).
Star Trek socks sound dash - well, and hearing aids are better than not to hear...
I think: as long as you have to guess you are NOT in an awkward age.

  8. Please have a happy birthday. I am right directly on the cusp of Leo and Virgo. What a combination! A flamboyant know-it-all. One of my sons is a Capricorn. He is a loving and generous person.

    1. Dear Emma, thank you! I always think that - if at all - the Chinese signs are more interesting: they grab at least a whole year full of people... though: in the long run I like to meet (or read) people('s blog) to form an impression.

  10. Happy Birthday, dear Britta...just a day or so late! That seems to be my story ... Lately, I am always late! Retirement has made me complacent and not in a rush. So best wishes coming your way... Happy New Year, too!
