Feverish Swan Walk, SW 3

Britta Hill

The last two days I slept and slept, due to my feverish swan-throat, and in my dreams I walked about the Albert Bridge a hundred times (now you know where I lost the 1000 grams of precious Me :-)
When you walk on after leaving the bridge you come to Swan Walk - and that gave me the idea to pin your attention to Sue's exquisite blog http://prufrocksdilemma.wordpress.com/2013/07/21/invective-against-swanns/ - you'll see (and hear) what I mean.
Though: 'Invective against swans' I am not:

Britta Hill

and I would spread my wings to fly as quick as I can to this house, would they offer it to me...

  1. oh! Old Swan House in Cheyne Walk! One of my favourite houses in Chelsea! I have taken almost the exact same photographs of it and stood and dreamed under this divine balcony many times. I love this neighbourhood with all of it's echoes from the days the Pre-Raphaelites and the rock stars lived here. Thank you for sharing. x

  2. Dear Minerva,
yes, isn't it lovey? And of course you're right: Swan Walk starts shortly after it, before going to Chelsea Physic Garden (its apothecary garden would come in handy at the moment)

    1. Dear Pondside,
yes I try! Wonderful warm weather, sun shining in through soft swinging curtains, shadows od vine leaves, a book sinking from my hand, me dozing off...

  4. Britta: Fantastic! Next time I get to England, I hope I'll see it for myself. The Chelsea Physic Garden, about which David Nice often writes, is already very high on the list. (For one, he says its "Tangerine Dream cafe serves up some of the best cakes in London.") Here's a lovely post by him about it here:http://davidnice.blogspot.com/2013/02/auguries-of-spring.html. Look where the swans lead us, eh? Feel better soon!

    1. Dear Sue,
the Physic Garden is worth a visit - I will write about it soon, but think maybe in another blog, because the followers here are not all that interested in gardens - will have to think about that. I read the post of David - I liked it and wanted to follow, but that doesn't seem to be possible, so I'll put him on my blog list to see when he writes next.
Thank you for your good wishes!

  6. Oh, that is such a romantic castle - and such a tragic-romantic King's life!
